Michael L. Neal is a native of Chicago, Illinois; he currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Glorious Light Church, Chief Executive Officer of the Timothy Community Corporation (TCC) and the Executive Director of the Leading with Literacy Program (LWL).
Pastor Neal answered God’s call and launched the Glorious Light Church in Bronzeville in July 2008. God has given Glorious Light Church a unique vision for their community and God has been faithful in allowing Pastor Neal to help this vision come to fruition
In 2012 Pastor Neal founded the “Timothy Community Corporation NFP” a Community Development Corporation. That would strengthen the community by Sharing, Caring and Connecting, individuals with opportunities to grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually
His passion for reading has also, been very instrumental in developing his Strategic Vision, Communication, and the ability to Collaborate and Partner with great community leaders, and institutions. Serving is something that Michael truly enjoys which is how the Leading with Literacy program was developed.
The concept is to have male volunteers read to students in grades Kindergarten to 3rd grade. In the fall 2011-12 Leading with Literacy was launched in its first school, and within three years the program was active in (10) Chicago Public Schools in the Bronzeville Community and one school in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He attributes his success in life from being an avid reader as a young boy. He knows that it was the stories he read in the daily newspaper and to his various chapter books that brought him life, hope, and endless opportunities. In his efforts to be catalyst for elementary school age children, Michael Neal became a member of the Chicago, Literacy Alliance who has been very instrumental in providing books and other literary resources.
To date over 20,00 books have been donated to (LWL) through various programs and private donations, giving students the opportunity to obtain books for their personal library.
Michael has committed to make literacy a lifelong pursuit.
